Items required for Sublimation

Items need to start a sublimation business?

Starting a sublimation business is one of the easiest and most economical start-ups in the digital decorating industry.

Sublimation printer must have compatible with the available cartridges. Currently, these include Sawgrass Virtuoso, Ricoh & Epson printers and a wide variety of other format printers.

Sublimation inks

Sublimation inks are not quite same as normal inkjet inks - they are available in the usual cartridge form. Sublimation ink must be heat activated for the colors to fully brighten and transfer into the items due to the special make-up of the ink. Because it is different from normal inkjet ink, however, you must use a specialized printer, software, or color profile embedded within the document for required output. So, it is important to buy dye-sublimation ink from a good supplier.

Sublimation paper

Sublimation paper is important for the ink to transfer onto the items. It is designed to release same printed image from the sheet.

Heat press wraps Since sublimation requires such a high level of temperature and pressure, you must use either a heat press machine to press the item. A commercial heat press will be the most efficient way of sublimating most of the items.

SOFTWARE

Color checker software or color profile Since sublimation ink is not the same as the inkjet ink for the printers it often runs through some form of correction for the color differences that are needed. Users must install and use an color profile that is used with a design program that is able to manage color settings, such as Adobe Photoshop etc.

Sublimation blanks are items that are specifically coated to receive the inks. You can also transfer onto pure white polyester fabric. You cannot sublimate onto cotton or dark color fabrics.

SUBLIMATION PRODUCTs

All of these hard surface items (below) have a special coating to accept inks. These products are formulated to be UV resistant, scratch resistant and water repellent.

1. T-Shirts

Sublimated T-Shirt is a good printing technique that allows for vibrant, full color, all-over print tees and garments. The image is printed onto a sublimation sheet of high-release paper and transferred onto the T-Shirt using heat press machine.

2. Mugs

The prepared image is heat pressed onto the mug. This is when the ink turns to a gas state and is absorbed into the polyester coating on the surface of the sublimation mug.

With Sublimation Printing You Can Sublimate T-Shirts, Ceramic Mugs, Caps, Key Chains, Pillow Covers And Mobile Phone Covers To Create Amazing High Quality Items That Last A Lifetime.

What is Sublimation Printing? KARMA CREATIONS

Sublimation printing is a popular method for printing high-quality images onto a variety of fabrics and items as the display features no resolution loss when comparing to the original image. With an image as clear as the source, a product made using the sublimation process will sustain its quality throughout the years.

What is sublimation printing?

Sublimation definition: Sublimation is a chemical process where a solid turns into a gas without going through a liquid stage.
Sublimation printing, also known as dye sublimation printing, is a popular printing method for transferring images onto suitable materials. Typical printing methods involve a step with water, where the solid turns to water before a gaseous state. Sublimation printing does not involve the liquid step but goes right from solid to gas due to a chemical reaction (like dry ice).

How it works

This typically involves the use of a digital printer to produce images on sublimation transfer paper with sublimation ink. The sublimation paper is then placed into a heat press with the material and exposed to high temperatures of about 350 to 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This is when the ink and transfer material turn from solid to gas. Once they are in a gas state, they permeate the fibers of the material.
When the heat is removed from the transfer paper and substrate, the ink that has permeated the fibers solidifies and is locked permanently into place by the transfer material. Not only does the heat release the gas from the sublimation ink, but it opens the pores of the material you are transferring the image to. Once the pressure and heat are released, the sublimation ink returns to its solid state and the fabric pores close, trapping the ink inside.

Sublimation best uses

This printing method is best used on products such as polyester apparel in white or light colors or hard surfaces with a poly-coating, such as coasters, mugs, mouse pads and more.
